Through her social enterprise, Poa Poa Farms, Jacinta provides comprehensive training, mentorship, and access to affordable, eco-friendly inputs to help small-scale producers boost their yields and improve their livelihoods.

Through a user-friendly mobile app, Kilimo Smart enables smallholder producers to access real-time market information, secure lucrative contracts with commercial buyers, and streamline their supply chain operations.

One of the biggest challenges facing Kenyan farmers is the lack of transparency and efficiency in the agricultural value chain,” Wambui explains. “Kilimo Smart was created to empower our farmers, to give them the tools and the information they need to make informed decisions and maximize their profits.”

By bridging the digital divide and fostering greater collaboration across the food system, Kilimo Smart and similar innovative initiatives are not only improving the livelihoods of Kenyan farmers but also contributing to the nation’s broader economic transformation. As these youth-led enterprises gain traction and scale, they are creating new job opportunities, boosting household incomes, and positioning Kenya as a regional leader in sustainable, technology-driven agriculture.

Yet, the Kenyan agricultural renaissance is not solely about economic growth; it is also a testament to the power of youth-led initiatives in addressing the pressing social and environmental challenges facing the nation. From the development of climate-smart farming techniques to the promotion of nutritious, locally-sourced foods, these young innovators are redefining the role of agriculture in fostering a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future for all Kenyans.
