The medical, dental, and pharmacy interns in Kenya have continued their protests at the Ministry of Health (MoH) headquarters, Afya House, for the second day. The interns are expressing frustration over the delay in their official postings after completing their studies.

According to the interns, they have the right to be posted within 30 days of completing their studies, as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the MoH and the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU).

However, they claim to have endured waiting for years after finishing their medical training.

The interns have vowed not to back down until their demands are met, and have warned that they will continue to occupy the MoH headquarters until their grievances are addressed. They stressed that they have spent more than six years acquiring life-saving knowledge and skills, and believe they deserve timely postings to start their careers.

The protests come as the interns seek to exercise their rights and address the delays in the posting process, which they say has been an ongoing issue for years. The situation highlights the challenges faced by newly qualified medical professionals in transitioning into their careers in the Kenyan healthcare system.
