Seven suspects have been arrested in Bomet following allegations of gang rape. The police plan to arraign the suspects and seek their detention for further investigation.
Police officers, together with the local chief and Nyumba Kumi elders, conducted an operation in the area and successfully apprehended the seven individuals.
The incident, which reportedly occurred in December 2023, has sparked widespread condemnation online, with many demanding stringent measures to address such crimes. The video recording of the gang rape, which went viral on social media, depicted a woman being assaulted by multiple men in a house. Throughout the video, the woman can be heard screaming while the perpetrators urge her to cooperate.
Bomet Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa confirmed that two of the suspects have been positively identified from the video. However, authorities are currently searching for the woman involved, as she did not report the incident to the police. Her cooperation is sought to aid in the ongoing investigation.

Richard Ngeno, chairman of the Myoot Council of Elders, strongly condemned the despicable act and emphasized that the offenders should face the full force of the law. He urged young people to refrain from engaging in such unlawful activities and cautioned against the consumption of harmful content on social media, which can potentially lead to drug abuse and sexual misconduct.
