London Met confirmed the arrest of 17-years old boy on Monday this week in connection with 21-years old stabbed to death in North London. Police added that a murder investigation is underway, as experts analyze various video from CCTV around the area.
Police statement after the incidence said the victim was taken to hospital by ambulance services, but despite the best efforts of medical staff he died in the early hours of Tuesday, 12 December.
A man who witnessed the incident told the Tribune he saw a fight break out between the two young men and saw the 21-year-old stabbed.
“I was coming home from my daughter’s house, and I saw it,” he said. “I saw the ambulance guys working on him and taking him away.”
The police statement adds that “His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.” A 17-year-old male was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder and taken to a north London police station where he remains. A crime remains in place as detectives and forensics officers trawl for clues”.
On the other side, the Leader of the council, Councilor Kaya Comer-Schwartz, said: “I’m shocked and saddened by the tragic news that a 21-year-old man has lost his life following a stabbing on Tufnell Park Road yesterday evening.
“My thoughts and condolences, and those of Islington, are with their family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
The police have today named the victim as Mohamed Abdi-Noor of Islington, the force adds that formal identification is yet to be established.
A murdermap, a project that began in 2010 to cover homicide cases, reports, though not an official record, that London have seen nearly killings. In August 2023, the standard reports that majority of homicides in this year involve knives. while most victims make about 80 percent, 46 percent white, 38 black and 15 percent Asian.
