On Wednesday 28th October Nottingham City Youth Cabinet is hosting a youth leadership conference to help young leaders connect, explore issues and make plans for positive youth-led change.

Around 40 young leaders aged 16-25, from community organisations, youth groups and educational settings across the city are expected to attend, along with a number of senior decision-makers from the Council and its partners, and supporting workers.

The conference takes place on Microsoft Teams, starting at 9.30am and finishing at 2.30pm, with a break for lunch. Delegates to the conference will contribute to workshop discussions, action planning and presentations. It’s a chance to meet with other proactive young people, share views, experiences and ideas for change, and inspire each other.

The programme, including workshops and discussion sessions, is designed and led by members of Nottingham City Youth Cabinet, the Council’s youth leadership and reference group. Though supporting workers will be there to help out, young people’s voices will be predominant throughout the day.

Please share this invitation with two or three young people who would enjoy the opportunity to meet with like-minded young leaders and grow their leadership skills and confidence. Please encourage and support them to sign up and take part.

Conference programme:

The morning session features a keynote speech from Nadia Whittome, MP for Nottingham East and the youngest MP in the House of Commons, and a presentation by the co-chairs of  the Youth Cabinet, Havana Allwood and James Kirkland. Delegates will then breakout into pre-chosen workshop groups looking at key issues affecting young people lives: topics include the environment, equalities, community engagement, education and work futures, and health & well-being.

After lunch, delegates will share the workshop group findings and discuss the key issues and actions emerging from them. Action plans made will form the basis of the work to take forward, as we look to support the development of a strong network of young leaders across the city.

Registration from 9.30am. Conference starts 10am prompt. There will be a one hour break for lunch between 12pm and 1pm. The conference will finish at 2.30pm. Delegates will be expected to be online and ready to engage five minutes before the start of each session.

Please use the booking request link to register interest in attending. Confirmed delegates will be notified and receive a conference pack with full joining instructions, including online links.
