Nottingham will this year play host to the prestigious Ice Hockey World Championship tournament.

Ice Hockey UK has been successful in its bid to host the 2023 World Championship Division I Group A at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham. 

Passes to gain entry into the tournament ranges from £60 and reaches up to £108.

It will be the most prestigious ice hockey tournament ever to be held in the UK according to the tournament organisers.

It will be the second men’s tournament to take place in the UK in six years after the Division I Group B tournament in Belfast in 2017, which saw GB promoted with five wins from five matches.

GB will be joined by Italy, Lithuania, Korea, Poland and Romania in the six-team group, with the tournament taking place from 29th April to 5th May 2023.

The teams finishing first and second in the group will be promoted to play in the 2024 top-level World Championship in Prague and Ostrava in Czechia. 

Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania, Korea, Poland and Romania make up the six-team group.

Great Britain will kick-start their campaign against Korea on Saturday 29th April 2023 at 19:30 hours prompt in a face-off, before going head-to-head with Poland the following day at 16:00 hours.

After a rest day, Lithuania are GB’s opponents on Tuesday 2nd May at 19:30 hours and the Pete Russell’s side face Romania 24 hours later at  19:30 hours as well.

Great Britain and Italy play the final game of the tournament on Friday 5th May at 19:30 hours.

The teams finishing first and second in the group will be promoted to play in the 2024 top-level World Championship in Prague and Ostrava in Czechia.
