In Nairobi, Kenya’s capital city, concerns are growing over the rising number of families living on the streets. Many children and their families have been forced to leave their homes due to various challenges. Some of these challenges include poverty, family conflicts, and lack of basic needs like food and shelter.

One of the troubling trends is the increasing number of children who have dropped out of school. Without access to education, these children face limited opportunities for a better future. Instead of being in classrooms, they roam the streets, where they often resort to sniffing glue as a way to cope with their harsh realities.

During a recent visit to the streets of Nairobi, it was evident that the situation is dire. Families, including young children, can be seen begging for food and money. The lack of proper sanitation and healthcare facilities further exacerbates their living conditions, posing serious health risks.

Local authorities and non-profit organizations are working tirelessly to address this issue. Efforts include providing temporary shelters, counseling services, and educational support to help reintegrate these families into society. However, with the numbers continuing to rise, there is an urgent need for more sustainable solutions to ensure that every child has a safe and supportive environment to grow up in.
