President William Ruto assured that Kenya will be ready to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) during a meeting with Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe on Monday.

“Kenya will be ready to co-host the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in 2027. The preparations for our three stadiums—the renovation of Kasarani and Nyayo, along with the construction of the new Talanta Sports City Stadium—are progressing well,” President Ruto stated.

He emphasized that both Kasarani and Nyayo stadiums will be ready by the end of this year for the African Nations Championships 2025, while the Talanta Sports City Stadium is set for completion by December 2025, in time for AFCON 2027.

Kenya, alongside Uganda and Tanzania, is working to ensure infrastructure is ready for the biennial championship. The nation has faced challenges in the past, notably in 1996 and 2018, when it was unable to host the competition due to inadequate stadium facilities.

Currently, the MISC Kasarani is closed for refurbishment, and construction of the Talanta Sports City Stadium is underway.
