Two people have been nabbed in Nottingham after thousands of pounds worth of clothes were purchased online using stolen customer details.

Nottinghamshire Police launched an investigation after 47 fraudulent orders were placed with a retailer.

A 23-year-old woman and 16-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation.

Detective Inspector Ashley Xavier, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Fraud can have a huge impact on retailers and individuals whose personal details are stolen.

“Reports will always be treated seriously by Nottinghamshire Police. Two suspects are in custody and our enquiries are ongoing.”

On duty: the Police conducting an arrest

It is thought customer names and personal details were stolen by hackers and sold on the dark web, with fraudsters using them to order clothing items on credit.

A police search was executed at a property in Dale Grove, Sneinton, earlier this week and multiple clothing packages seized.

The two remain in custody for further questioning.
