Nottingham Crown Court has incarcerated a scheming, vile and brutally violent sexual predator to 12 years under lock and key who repeatedly raping a woman.
The court heard during the trial, the jailed sexual predator, Robert Taylor, also threatened her at knifepoint and assaulted her, leaving her with severe injuries, during his attack at an address in Mansfield.
The survivor, who managed to flee the scene, was taken to hospital.
She submitted to the court that her injuries included fractured ribs, a severely bruised face, and a bleed on the brain.
Following inquiries Taylor, of HMP Nottingham, was arrested later in the day.
The 49-year-old went on to plead guilty to six counts of rape and a further charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He was given an extended sentence, to serve 12 years in custody with an extended licence period of four years, when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday 29 March 2023.
Taylor was also added to the Sex Offenders’ Register and made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for life – both of which will tightly control his behaviour once he is released.
Detective Inspector Jamie Moore, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Public Protection department, said: “This survivor was subjected to what can only be described as violent, sickening, and savage treatment by Taylor who left her with severe injuries in the street.
“I’d like to commend her for her bravery shown throughout our investigation and I hope today’s result brings her some closure. I also hope our work in this case reassures other victims that they can feel confident about coming forward and that Nottinghamshire Police treats rape and sexual assault extremely seriously.
“We will always do everything in our power to make sure violent offenders like Taylor are held to account and victims are offered the support they need by specially trained officers.
Added Inspector Jamie Moore: “We understand that victims of these offences are often coming to us for help at the most difficult time in their lives, and I want them to know that we will listen carefully to them, they will be taken seriously, we will investigate and do everything we can to get justice for them.”
