The shooting happened on Vine Road, a small housing development in Lower Clapton at about 6pm Tuesday this week.

Dec Supt Vicky Tunstall said that the killing as “shocking” and appealed for witnesses to come forward, as officers will remain at the scene in the coming few days.

“I do not underestimate the impact this incident will have on people in Hackney, and I understand the community will want answers about what has happened this evening. We will share further information as our investigation progresses,” she added. “Gun crime has no place on the streets of London, and we will do all we can to bring whoever is responsible for this despicable crime to justice.”

MyLondon online news names the victim as Lianne Gordon, a 42-year old mum. Investigators believe the shooter was looking for someone else at the address and they are yet to establish the motive, that they do not believe the women as an intended victim.
