In a bold step towards revolutionizing digital education, Youth Future Lab, through its flagship program Kutambua, is leveraging cutting-edge technology to expand access to ICT across Kenya. A major catalyst in this transformation is the integration of the IBIK ASTER system—a smart, solar-powered solution that allows multiple monitors to function independently from a single base unit.

Unlike traditional setups that require individual CPUs per monitor, the IBIK ASTER creates cost-effective, energy-efficient ICT labs, ideal for schools and community hubs with limited resources. By enabling multiple users to operate different tasks on separate screens connected to the same unit, it reduces hardware costs while increasing access to digital learning.

This innovation has already been rolled out in several ICT hubs established by Youth Future Lab under the Kutambua program, including:

Best ICT Hub
Misau Emale Integrated School
St. Andrews Mutus Integrated School
ICT Hub at Nareto Conservancy, Laikipia County

Each location benefits from increased access to computers, allowing more students to learn simultaneously without the burden of maintaining dozens of expensive and energy-consuming machines. This approach not only promotes digital literacy but also supports youth empowerment by offering practical digital skills within underserved communities.

In addition to these successes, the Kutambua team is preparing to roll out the ASTER system in upcoming hubs at Ugweri, Gatumbi School, the SEC Centre in Mombasa, and other institutions across Kenya. This expansion demonstrates Youth Future Lab’s commitment to delivering scalable, sustainable digital solutions that bridge the technology gap in rural and peri-urban areas.

By integrating IBIK ASTER into its ICT Hubs, Youth Future Lab is transforming traditional classrooms into dynamic digital learning spaces, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and access to a world of knowledge. The project represents a major milestone in reimagining how education can be delivered—more inclusively, affordably, and efficiently.

Through Kutambua and innovations like ASTER, a new generation of digitally savvy youth is being nurtured, ready to lead in Kenya’s tech-driven future.
