Rescue Operations Underway After Boat Capsizes In Lake Baringo

Rescue operations are currently underway in Lake Baringo following a boat capsizing incident on Sunday.

According to the police, six individuals are reported missing, one person has drowned, and 11 others have been successfully rescued.

The boat was transporting church members from Kampi Samaki to Kokwa Island, as stated by the authorities.

Area police boss Julius Kiragu confirmed the ongoing rescue operation on Sunday afternoon and mentioned that the cause of the capsizing is still unknown.

He stated, “Teams are actively engaged in the rescue efforts to locate the missing individuals.”

In a similar incident on January 15, a group of seven Kenya Defense Forces soldiers narrowly escaped death after their boat, carrying food supplies, capsized in Lamu.

Officials reported that the incident occurred near the Kiwayu Chandani area of the Kiunga ward in Lamu.

The soldiers, who had departed from the Manda camp in Magogoni, Hindi ward, were transporting food supplies at the time of the incident.
