The past year has been nothing short of inspiring at Youth Future Lab. From 2024 to 2025, our five departments have worked passionately to empower young people, transform communities, and create lasting impact. As we celebrate these milestones, we also recognize the visionary leaders who have made this journey possible.

Digital Inclusion Department – Led by Caroline Macharia
The Digital Inclusion Department has been at the heart of bridging the technology gap. With new ICT hubs and expanded digital literacy programs, hundreds of young people have gained essential digital skills. “Our mission has always been to ensure no young person is left behind in the digital era,” says Caroline. “Seeing youth confidently using technology to learn, innovate, and connect has been our biggest reward.”

Youth Media Department – Led by Joseph Wambua
Through publications, podcasts, and creative storytelling, the Youth Media Department has amplified the voices of young people. Joseph reflects: “Young people have powerful stories and solutions. Our role has been to provide them with a platform to be heard and to shape conversations that matter.” From highlighting climate action to showcasing entrepreneurship, the department has inspired civic engagement and leadership among the youth.

Skills Department – Led by Alice Nyambura
The Skills Department has equipped young people with practical knowledge for employability and entrepreneurship. A highlight was the introduction of tailored entrepreneurship courses that helped youth turn ideas into businesses. “When a young person tells us they started a business or got a job because of the skills they gained here, that’s a milestone worth celebrating,” says Alice. “We are building confidence, self-reliance, and hope for the future.”

Environment Department – Led by Fredrick Kioko
Sustainability and conservation took center stage under the Environment Department. With tree-planting drives, clean-up campaigns, and climate dialogues, the team engaged communities in meaningful environmental action. Fredrick proudly shares: “Every tree planted and every young person who stands up for the environment is a victory. We are nurturing a generation that truly cares for the planet.”

Communication Department – Led by Ochieng Jakawino
Behind every story, campaign, and message, the Communication Department has ensured Youth Future Lab’s voice is strong and clear. From newsletters to social media campaigns, Ochieng and his team have amplified the organization’s presence. “Communication is about connection,” Ochieng explains. “This year, we’ve connected with more young people and partners than ever before, and that has strengthened our impact.”

Looking Ahead
As we celebrate these achievements, we are reminded that every milestone represents the dedication of our leaders and the resilience of the youth we serve. With Caroline, Joseph, Alice, Fredrick, and Ochieng guiding their departments, Youth Future Lab is building a future where young people are digitally empowered, media-savvy, skilled, environmentally conscious, and deeply connected.

“Our journey has just begun,” says the leadership team collectively. “The best is yet to come.”
