If Africa persists on a fossil fuel-dependent trajectory, the continent’s rapid pace of development will significantly increase energy demand and consequent carbon emissions. If more sustainable energy policies and strategies were adopted, what would Africa’s trajectory look like?

A new modelling study by the Institute for Security Studies’, (ISS) African Futures and Innovation team provides answers.

This seminar examines Africa’s climate and energy futures, shedding light on various scenarios, including the consequences of a global carbon tax and aggressive energy policies, and the transformative effects of transitioning to sustainable practices.
